Ludhiana gears up for 79th Independence Day with full dress rehearsal
DC Himanshu Jain oversees preparations, issues directives for flawless celebrations; Cabinet Minister Aman Arora to preside over function on Aug 15

Ludhiana, August 13, 2025: A full dress rehearsal for the 79th Independence Day took place at the PAU grounds on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain presided over the parade and hoisted the flag. He took a salute from the participating contingents of March past comprising Punjab Police (Men and Women), Punjab Home Guards, NCC Scouts (Boys and Girls) and others, led by parade commander PPS Officer Harshpreet Singh.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by DCP Parminder Singh Bhandal and ADC Rakesh Kumar.
The march past was followed by a splendid mass PT show by 850 students of 25 government schools, patriotic colourful cultural programme presented by students of different institutions including Government High School (Dhandari), Spring Dale School, BVM School, DAV School and 16 others institutions.
Minutes after the full-dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner also held a meeting with various departments in the stadium and gave the final touch to the arrangements for district-level Independence Day celebrations event. He added that Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training, New & Renewable Energy Resources, Governance Reforms & Grievance Redressal and Printing & Stationery Minister Aman Arora will preside over the district-level Independence Day function to be held on August 15 here.
Jain emphasized the need for all concerned departments to exert sincere efforts to ensure that the I-Day celebrations are exceptional. He urged officials to diligently perform their duties to carry out this grand event seamlessly, highlighting the importance of meticulous planning and execution.
