Ludhiana: Ludhiana Smart City Ltd (LSCL) director Ar Sanjay Goel who is also Chairman- IIA Punjab Chapter has written to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh with regard to healthcare infrastructure under smart city mission
Goel, in his email message to the chief minister has written that we all are aware that smart healthcare  is most important in a liveable city and if citizens are not healthy and are in short of required health infrastructure than it’s a very serious issue.  Under smart city mission - Government can further uplift health infrastructure in upcoming smart cities under pan city initiatives. We can not only create new healthcare infrastructure in areas which are deficient in terms of healthcare but can also improve conditions of existing hospital buildings with more beds and allied infrastructure. Funds from smart city mission can be provided for upgradation of medical buildings, for expansions, for setting more oxygen plants, for new ventilators, for new ambulances and for even setting temporary beds to provide admission to patients.

Adding, he said during pandemic time, we need best healthcare facilities and rest all new development projects can be taken up later on as per priority under SCM. Upcoming smart cities of Punjab (Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar) must always lead by example to guide other cities and towns in terms of best healthcare of citizens.

He further wrote that, many existing hospitals, health centres need more area to accommodate beds and allied infrastructure which can be done under smart city mission too.

If we can provide funds for smart schools, smart play grounds under smart city mission then smart healthcare is most important, he added.

Hope special purpose vehicle (SPV) of every upcoming smart city will take quick action to divert funds and energy for health infrastructure as per your valuable advice and instructions, he concluded.
