LPU’s Women Footballers crushed Agra University by 7 Goals

Jalandhar, December 20, 2021:  Women football team of Lovely Professional University exhibited the best of the game, today, during Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) North Zone Inter-University (women) Football Championship-2021 being held at LPU Sports Ground. LPU team defeated Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University Agra by 7 Goals. Displaying ‘football fury’-the theme of the championship, LPU Captain Bhagwati Chauhan scored 4 field goals individually; forward Sunita made 2 and Rajni one. With another walkover, LPU team has now made its way in top four league matches of the zone.
With 400 participants, 20 top universities of the zone including Punjabi University Patiala, GNDU Amritsar, Kurukshetra University, Avadh University and more had registered for the championship.  LPU team is heading ahead skilfully to grab the prestigious chance of being among top 8 teams of the country to further play in ‘Khelo India University Games-2021’.
Worth mentioning the women footballers at LPU belong to different professional programmes instead of merely physical education. LPU mentors have selected them by finding passion for football residing within them. LPU Dean, Division of Student Welfare, Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal encouraged the students to continue with their exemplary wins.  
On this occasion, Chairman Punjab Football Association Sameer Thapar; Match Commissioners Major Ram and Hardeep Singh also appreciated LPU women footballers for their agility and coordination maintained throughout the match. LPU student Bhagwati, who hails from Uttrakhand, has ensured her mentors at LPU to reach to the top position in national matches to be held during the last five days of the year 2021 at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu.
In another match Punjabi University, Patiala, also demonstrated a one-sided match by defeating Amity University, Noida, by 8 goals.
