Director General NCC Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, AVSM, VSM had inaugurated the camp at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantt. In fact, AITSC is a prestigious camp of NCC in which cadets from all over India are tested in physical and mental ability skills through various competitions. Both of the LPU cadets were selected through a series of tough competitions starting at their Unit-level, subsequently, Group-level in Jalandhar and Directorate-level in NCC Academy Ropar, where they competed with NCC cadets from all over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh for final selection.

At the final camp in New Delhi, LPU students took part in competitions like “Obstacle Training, Map Reading and other Institutional Training Competitions” for ten days. One who completes TSC camp is equal to an ‘Indian Army Soldier’ in terms of map reading and firing skills.

The aim of “Thal Sainik “camp is to give an exposure to the salient features of the army training. It also generates healthy competitive spirit and fosters the sense of discipline, leadership and national integration amongst the cadets.  It is unique in its own way by being a national level camp for “Army Wing” cadets. Similar camps for the “Air” and “Naval” wings are also conducted separately.
