Love, Loyalty, and Legal Wars — Kajol is Back, Fiercer Than Ever, in The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha Season 2

Mumbai, August 22, 2025: The much-anticipated trailer of The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha Season 2 has just dropped and Kajol’s return as Noyonika Sengupta promises a performance that is fiercer, deeper, and more emotionally charged than ever before. The powerful new chapter, directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Banijay Asia, premieres exclusively on JioHotstar from 19th September 2025. Set against the high-stakes backdrop of courtroom drama and personal turmoil, the series blends emotional complexity with a fast-paced narrative of betrayal, ambition, and rediscovery.
Following her return to law in Season 1, after her husband’s public corruption scandal, once a timid housewife, Noyonika has now transformed into a determined lawyer and devoted mother. But as Season 2 unfolds, her world begins to unravel both professionally and personally. Her husband’s rising political ambitions threaten to fracture the family, while the law firm she trusts is riddled with rivalries and hidden agendas. Amid this, a complicated love triangle blurs the lines between obligation and desire.
Caught in a storm of impossible choices between love and law, trust and truth, Noyonika must answer the most defining question of her life: Will she stay loyal to the life she knows, or risk everything to choose herself?
Alongside Kajol, the series features a powerful ensemble cast including Jisshu Sengupta, Sonali Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, Alyy Khan, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Pandey, and Karanvir Sharma, poised to create an unforgettable season that pushes every boundary.
Kajol, on returning as Noyonika Sengupta, shares, "The trailer offers just a glimpse of the emotional storm Noyonika is about to walk into. This season is darker, deeper, and far more personal, she’s not just fighting legal battles, she’s fighting to keep her world from falling apart! What I love about Noyonika is that she doesn’t have all the answers, but she keeps going with grit, vulnerability, and heart. Stepping back into her shoes felt like revisiting an old wound that never really healed. Season 2 isn’t just a continuation, it's a reckoning. And I hope viewers are going to feel every bit of that storm"

Umesh Bist, Director, on shaping this emotional storm: "With Season 2, we wanted to raise the emotional and narrative stakes for Noyonika. From a directorial standpoint, the challenge was to balance the intensity of the legal drama with the subtle, internal unraveling of her character. It’s a layered story about power, identity, and the personal cost of standing up for oneself, especially as a woman and we’ve tried to reflect that complexity in every frame."
Alok Jain, JioStar, “We’re focused on building a content universe where bold and layered storytelling meets cinematic ambition. The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha exemplifies this, a drama that is intimate in emotion, expansive in scale and deeply reflective of the world we live in. It’s a show that doesn’t just entertain, but challenges how we see power, choice and identity.”
Sushant Sreeram, SVOD Head and Chief Marketing Officer, JioStar, added, “Our content strategy is driven by stories that travel—narratives that cross borders while remaining deeply personal for Indian audiences. International adaptations like The Trial exemplify this approach, allowing us to reimagine proven formats through the lens of our culture, values, and lived experiences. This goes beyond simple adaptation; it's about redefining India’s streaming future with bold storytelling that is globally resonant and locally authentic”
Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO Banijay Asia & EndemolShine India said, “We are excited to share the first glimpse of The Trial Season 2 — a season that takes drama and storytelling to the next level. This isn’t just the continuation of Noyonika’s journey from season 1,  but a bold leap forward — with higher stakes, more intense emotions and powerful performances. Season 2 promises a gripping ride filled with twists and revelations. With compelling, character-driven narratives at its core, we are all set to push the boundaries once again. Season 1 resonated strongly with audiences, and Season 2 will have an even bigger impact”.
Jisshu Sengupta on Rajiv’s shifting arc: "If the trailer gave you goosebumps, wait till you see how deep we go in Season 2. Rajiv is at a turning point; his ambitions have grown, but so has the cost of chasing them. There’s a lot more pressure, more deception, and more emotional undercurrents between him and Noyonika. Their dynamic is intense; it's love, regret, resentment, and vulnerability all rolled into one. As an actor, I loved sinking into those shades. This season asks hard questions about power, relationships, and redemption, and I think it’ll leave audiences with a lot to unpack."
