‘Love For Life, Beyond Cancer’: Fortis Hospital Mohali Champions Early Detection and Survivor Solidarity
More than 50 cancer survivors shared their ordeals of fighting cancer and emerging victorious
Chandigarh, February 16, 2026: In observance of World Cancer Day, Fortis Hospital Mohali hosted a vibrant and meaningful ‘Saarthak Meet’, a dedicated cancer support group initiative - to raise awareness about cancer and its associated challenges. Centered around the theme ‘Love For Life, Beyond Cancer’, the event brought together over 50 cancer survivors and their families for an inspiring celebration of resilience, hope and renewed strength. The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting led by cancer survivors, symbolising courage and triumph, followed by a prayer meet. Oncologists from the institute addressed the gathering, underscoring the critical importance of early detection and the role of a multidisciplinary approach in ensuring effective cancer care.
The highlight of the event was the heartfelt testimonies shared by survivors, who recounted their journeys of grit and determination in overcoming the disease. Their stories served as a powerful reminder that cancer can be fought and conquered with timely medical intervention and unwavering support. Adding to the celebratory spirit, the event featured a range of engaging activities including painting sessions, music, dance and interactive games, creating moments of joy and camaraderie. Survivors and participants were felicitated with mementoes in recognition of their strength and participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajeev Bedi, Director, Medical Oncology, Fortis Hospital Mohali said, “World Cancer Day serves as an important platform to spread awareness about cancer prevention, early diagnosis and treatment. Continuous efforts are essential to educate communities about recognizing early warning signs. Timely screening and prompt medical attention can significantly improve outcomes. If detected at an early stage, cancer is treatable, and any unusual symptoms should be immediately evaluated by a qualified doctor.”
