Loops and What Knot- Workshop on Crocheting at UIFT to celebrate National Start-up Day

Chandigarh, January 18, 2023: National Start-up Day was celebrated by University Institute of Fashion Technology in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council to encourage entrepreneurship and business concepts. A two-days’ workshop on Learning Art of Crocheting titled “Loops and What Knot” was organized on 16-17 January 2023. 50 Students of B.Sc. in Fashion and Lifestyle Technology participated in this workshop. 

Mitali Jain, an entrepreneur and an expert in arts, crafts, and crochet was the resource person. Through her 'Wrapped in Love' Instagram account, she exhibits and promotes her merchandise online. Mitali explained to the participants the fundamentals of crocheting and how these abilities may be expanded to create more intricate items. Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson, UIFT & VD, appreciated the efforts of the resource person and commented that learning such skills helps in many ways- lending entrepreneurial skills and keeps one occupied in a creative activity by boosting mental health. To inspire the students, she displayed a variety of crocheted items, including hair clips, key chains, coasters, bookmarks, earrings, etc. She also discussed how to transform crocheting at home into a lucrative business venture. At the end of the workshop many participants were able to create many products including hair accessories, key rings etc. Ginni Singh, JRF at UIFT organized this creative workshop.
