Lok Sabha-2024- DC flags off digital mobile vans to promote voting
With an aim to spread awareness among voters on usage of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, Deputy Commissioner-District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday flagged off digital mobile vans for 14 assembly constituencies (ACs) of the district.
Ludhiana, February 8, 2024: With an aim to spread awareness among voters on usage of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, Deputy Commissioner-District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday flagged off digital mobile vans for 14 assembly constituencies (ACs) of the district.
The vans have been flagged off as per the guidelines of Punjab Chief Electoral Officer. These vans will create awareness till March 8, 2024 by visiting all the constituencies.
Accompanied by ADC (G) Ojasvi Alankar and other officials, Deputy Commissioner said that these vans would help the people to get familiarised voting in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the functioning of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines. These vans equipped with EVMs, VVPATs, LED will visit schools, colleges and mohallas. The people can also cast demo votes in these machines. The LED will display visuals regarding voting method so that the maximum awareness can be made among the phone. She said that the people could also contact 1950 for additional information.
Sawhney said that the vans would go to Ludhiana West AC from Feb 8-9, February 10-12 in Gill AC, February 13-14 in Ludhiana South AC, February 15-16 in Atam Nagar AC, February 17-18 in Ludhiana Central AC, February 19-20 in Ludhiana North AC, February 21-23 in Sahnewal AC, February 24-25 in Ludhiana East AC, February 26-27 in Dakha AC, February 28-29 in Raikot AC, March 1-2 in Jagraon AC, March 3-4 in Payal AC, March 5-6 in Khanna AC and March 7-8 in Samrala AC.
Sawhney called upon the people to come forward and get a first-hand experience of voting process and familiarity with machines.
