Local Bodies Minister Dr Ravjot Singh, MP Seechewal review 'Buddha Dariya rejuvenation project'

Stern action should also be taken to stop dumping of cow dung and untreated industrial waste in Buddha Dariya

Ludhiana, November 29, 2025: Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab government to clean Buddha Dariya, Local Bodies minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal reviewed the 'Buddha Dariya rejuvenation project' during a meeting held at STP Jamalpur on Saturday.

Strict directions were issued to the concerned staff of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board (PWSSB) and civic body to ensure proper functioning of Sewer treatment plants (STP) and effluent treatment plants (ETP), otherwise stern departmental action would be taken against them.

MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, ADCP Jashandeep Singh Gill, SDM Jasleen Bhullar, SE Ekjot Singh, PWSSB Executive Engineer Balraj Singh among other officials of PPCB etc were present in the meeting.

Cabinet minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Seechewal directed the officials of civic body and PPCB to stop dumping of cow dung and untreated industrial waste in the Buddha Dariya and act strict against violators, wherever necessary. 

Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Seechewal stated that state government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to rejuvenate Buddha Dariya. They have been regularly monitoring the progress at ground level and every effort is being made to achieve the target. 

They stated that timelines have also been fixed for the works and strict directions have been issued to the officials that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. Strict departmental action would be taken against the officials in case of any delays.

Earlier, cabinet minister Dr Singh and MP Seechewal also visited the 'Sangat Ghat' established by MP Seechewal on the banks of Buddha Dariya. Cabinet minister Dr Singh appreciated the efforts put in by MP Seechewal for reducing pollution in Buddha Dariya.

After the meeting, MLA Daljit Singh Grewal, MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal also conducted a meeting with dairy owners at Tajpur road dairy complex. The dairy owners were urged to stop dumping cow dung in Buddha Dariya and support the authorities otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
