Amritsar: Livasa Hospital, Amritsar, Punjab’s leading NABH-accredited super-specialty hospital in association with the Physician’s Forum, Amritsar, hosted a CME on ‘Kidney Transplant – New Kidney, New Life’ at Hotel Fairfield by Marriott, Amritsar today. The event brought together leading physicians and medical professionals from across the city to discuss recent advancements in renal and transplant care.

The CME session, led by Dr. Radhika Garg, Consultant – Nephrology, Livasa Hospital, Amritsar, highlighted a major clinical milestone for the hospital — becoming the only center in the region performing kidney transplants.

The kidney transplant case featured a 20-year-old female patient who underwent a living donor transplant, with her mother serving as the donor. Both shared the same blood group. The procedure was successfully conducted by a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Radhika Garg consultant nephrology and transplant physician and Dr. Pars Ram Saini consultant urology & transplant surgery with support from Dr. Sonia Saini consultant anaesthesia & intensive care, Dr. Manish Gupta KTU & critical care incharge and Dr. Yogendra Tomar medical superintendentalong with expert intensivists and nursing staff. Both donor and recipient are stable and recovering well.

The achievement was presented before an audience of distinguished physicians, healthcare leaders, and media representatives — underscoring Livasa Hospital’s growing expertise in renal sciences and its dedication to making complex medical treatments accessible within the community.

During the CME, the transplant team shared insights into advanced renal transplant procedures, emphasizing early diagnosis, coordinated care, and public awareness regarding kidney health. This success ensures that patients across Punjab and neighbouring states can now avail themselves of advanced kidney transplant services locally, without the need to travel to metropolitan centers.
