Jalandhar, October 3, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of English organised “Litmania 2026,” a vibrant literary and cultural extravaganza that brought together the timeless world of literature and the creative talents of students.
The event provided a dynamic platform for students to explore literature through performance, expression, music, dance, and dramatic interpretation. The highlight of the event was the Literary Parade, where students brought iconic literary characters to life. The parade was followed by an engaging stage rendition of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, which highlighted the students’ understanding of classical tragedy, dramatic expression, and powerful storytelling. Another captivating presentation was based on Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, highlighting themes of justice, empathy, and human dignity. The event also featured “The Mirror Room,” an innovative literary presentation that offered students an opportunity to explore reflection, identity, and self-expression. Adding further vibrancy to the programme were Western songs, dance performances, and poetry recitations, including self-composed poetry by students. The original compositions reflected their imagination, sensitivity, and confidence as young creators.
Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director, KMV, applauded the efforts of the department and congratulated the students for their impressive performances. She appreciated the initiative for nurturing creativity, confidence and communication skills among students and encouraged them to continue exploring their talents through such enriching platforms.
Director lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English, for successfully organising the fest. The event successfully showed how literature can transcend the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms to become a living experience of performance, creativity, imagination, and self-expression.
