Like previous two terms, BJP's third term also anti-farmer and anti-poor: Former CM Hooda

Rohtak, October31, 2025: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the first year of BJP Govt.’s third term, like the previous two terms, has been anti-poor and anti-farmer. He said the BJP government has failed on every front.

“The BJP has become so anti-poor that it is even shutting down its own schemes. Under the Ayushman Yojana, the government has stated that surgeries will no longer be performed in private hospitals; only government hospitals will perform these services. The truth is that everything has been free in government hospitals since the Congress regime, but now the BJP has reduced these hospitals to such a state that they have no doctors or support staff,” he stated.

Talking to media persons in Rohtak, the former Chief Minister said farmers are always subjected to loot and scams during crop procurement under BJP rule. “This time, a major scam was uncovered in Karnal during the paddy procurement process, but instead of taking action against the big players, the government suppressed the scam by taking action against small employees,” he said.

“Previously, mining, liquor, and other scams worth hundreds of crores of Rupees have occurred in Haryana. SITs were formed to investigate these scams, but their investigation reports were never released. Farmers are being paid Rs 500 to 800 less than the MSP. New excuses are found daily for not purchasing their crops and their produce is being purchased at throwaway prices. Farmers, including paddy, millet, cotton, and moong, are being purchased at rates below the MSP, causing huge losses,” he stated.

“Not only is the MSP being provided, but farmers are also being deprived of fertilizers. In Hisar, farmers who came to buy fertilizer were brutally humiliated and labeled as criminals,” he added.

Hooda said drug abuse has gripped Haryana like a pandemic. “The drug trade is steadily expanding under the patronage of the BJP government. Law and order situation is so dire that even officers from the ASI to the ADGP level have lost faith in their government and are forced to resort to suicide,” he said.

“The Congress party is demanding that the CBI investigate these two suicides under the supervision of a Supreme Court or High Court judge. However, the government is unwilling to accept this demand. Consequently, the public has numerous questions, which the government appears to be avoiding,” he added.

Hooda said Haryana remains number one in crime and unemployment. He added that the condition of roads is deplorable, inviting accidents. Stadiums and sports complexes built during the Congress government have been abandoned by the government. The BJP government has ruined the excellent sports environment established by the Congress, including policies like "get a medal, get a position," and sports complexes.

He said that farmers in Bhiwani have been protesting for months demanding compensation, but the BJP government is not listening. “Private companies are being benefited under the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme. Hundreds of crores are being paid as premiums, while farmers only receive a long wait in the name of compensation,” he pointed out.

“This year, due to prolonged rains, millions of acres of farmers' crops were destroyed. Thousands of acres are still waterlogged, leaving farmers in no position to harvest their next crop. Despite this, the government is neither compensating them nor making any arrangements for drainage,” he added.

The former Chief Minister said that the BJP has done nothing but increase the state's debt. “The debt, which was only Rs 60-70,000 crore during the Congress regime in 2014, has now increased to over Rs 5 lakh crore,” he said.

The former Chief Minister said the BJP made numerous false promises to garner votes during the elections. BPL cards were issued for millions of people, the promise of permanent employment for Skill Employment Corporation employees was made, and two lakh jobs were announced.

“However, the BJP hasn't fulfilled a single one of these promises. Instead, Kaushal Nigam workers are being fired, ration cards of the poor are being cancelled, and, let alone new recruitments, the CET results haven't even been released yet,” he stated.
