Learning the Insights -Processes and Designs of Knitwear – UIFT students Visit Industry at Ludhiana

Chandigarh, October 17, 2023: An Industrial  visit was organised for the students of University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh in order to learn the processes and other details followed in the Knitwear Industry.The visit was organised to two knitting units in Ludhiana - Knitting Concepts Pvt. Ltd and Modish Knitwear’s Pvt ltd. Around 45 Students of B.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology visited the units. The students learned a lot as they were guided through the entire process of creating a knitted garment. The knowledge of yarns, knitting machines, and gauge served as the foundation for the information. They were additionally apprised of the many different knitting structures, including Knit, Purl, Intarsia, Jacquard, Tuck, Pointelle, and many others. They also interacted with the company's owners, who explained the critical abilities needed for the numerous tasks involved in producing a garment. The departments of merchandising, designing, cutting, making, tailoring, washing, hand finishing, and product packaging were introduced to the students. Dr. Ramandeep, Deepa, Faculty UIFT and Kulbir, JRF UIFT coordinated the visit which was a great learning experience for the students relating theory with the practical aspect followed in Apparel Industry.
