Chandigarh, January 6, 2026: Punjab’s law-and-order framework stood its ground as the prime accused in the Valtoha sarpanch murder case was killed in a police encounter near Tarn Taran, underscoring the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's firm and effective policing in the state. Reacting to the development, AAP Punjab General Secretary and media in-charge Baltej Pannu said Punjab Police acted decisively and within the bounds of duty, asserting that public safety in Punjab remains in secure hands and that those responsible for heinous crimes will be pursued relentlessly.

Emphasising the state’s zero-tolerance approach towards crime, he asserted, “No individual, irrespective of how powerful they may be, would be allowed to take the law into their own hands, and that Punjab Police would carry out its duty without fear or favour.”
Praising the professionalism and commitment of the police force, Baltej Pannu said that the government led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann remains fully committed to taking strict and decisive action against criminals. “Ensuring public safety and maintaining peace across the state continues to be the top priority of the Punjab government, and that any attempt to disrupt harmony would be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he asserted.
