A lecture and workshop on “Orthognathic Surgery: Diagnosis and Treatment Planning” was organised at the Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS), Rohtak.
Rohtak, March 10, 2026: A lecture and workshop on “Orthognathic Surgery: Diagnosis and Treatment Planning” was organised at the Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS), Rohtak.
Dr. Vyomesh Bhatt, Consultant, NHS England, participated as the keynote speaker in the program. He shared valuable information on contemporary approaches to diagnosis, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary management of orthognathic surgery cases. In his lecture, Dr. Bhatt discussed various aspects of orthognathic surgery, including diagnosis of dentofacial deformities, treatment planning, and surgical techniques.
He emphasized the importance of combining orthodontic and surgical treatment and how this approach can provide better outcomes for patients. During the workshop's interactive discussion of surgical cases, Dr. Bhatt discussed various orthognathic surgery cases with PG students and faculty members. Various aspects of orthodontic and surgical treatment, including treatment planning, surgical techniques, and post-operative care were discussed.
Following this, he also met with Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences. During the discussion, Dr. Bhatt expressed his desire to strengthen academic collaboration and said that he would submit a proposal to the university to facilitate short-term observation ship opportunities in the UK for faculty members and PG students from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal said that the institute periodically provides training to doctors through various means to ensure the latest technology is available to patients. He stated that the latest technology in dentofacial deformities is the need of the hour, as young people nowadays face a lot of stress related to dentofacial deformities. The introduction of new technologies will enable them to receive faster and better treatment.
Dr. Sanjay Tiwari, Principal of the Dental College, and Dr. Virender Singh, Senior Professor and HOD Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, commended the session, calling it beneficial for PG students. Participants, including Dr. Amrish Bhagol, Dr. Rekha Sharma, Dr. Sonal, and Dr. Ankita, actively participated in the educational discussions.
