KVK Fatehgarh Sahib hosts farmers' meet on climate change and sustainable farming practices

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, organized a Farmers' Meet at village Shadipur on Wedesnay,—the event aimed to address climate change concerns and promote sustainable farming practices among farmers.

Ludhiana, February 21, 2024: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, organized a Farmers' Meet at village Shadipur on Wedesnay,—the event aimed to address climate change concerns and promote sustainable farming practices among farmers.

Reet Verma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), extended a warm welcome to the team of experts from the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology and farmers from Shadipur and surrounding villages.

Dr Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), provided detailed information about various activities conducted by KVK.

Dr Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), sensitized farmers about sustainable cultivation of green fodder throughout the year.

Dr Prabhjyot Kaur, Principal Scientist (Agrometeorology), highlighted the impact of climate change on crops and livestock, emphasizing the importance of agro-advisories for efficient farm management.

Dr Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Principal Agronomist, shared insights about the AICRP on Agrometeorology, the effects of climate change on dairy animals, and the benefits of feed and mineral mixtures for animal health. Approximately 50 dairy farmers and farm women participated in the Farmers' Meet.

At the event's conclusion, 50 kg of feed and 5 kg of mineral mixture were distributed to all participants. The scientists addressed farmers' queries, and the farmers expressed gratitude for the valuable information and insights.
