Kuldeep Dhaliwal seeks Rs 500 crore from GoI for care of stray cattle

Chandigarh / Kevadia (Gujarat), April 19, 2022: To bring a major revolution in the field of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries sector, National Summer Meet was organized by the Central Government at Kevadia in Narmada District of Gujarat under Atam Nirbhar Bharat initiative. Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Pursotam Rupala was special guest on the occasion. The Punjab Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, present on the occasion, demanded Rs.500 crore from the GOI for the upkeep and maintenance of stray cattle in the state.
 
Kuldeep Dhaliwal said that 1.40 lakh stray animals were roaming in Punjab without fodder and shelter. He appealed to the GOI to provide Rs.500 crore for the building of sheds, arranging green fodder and silage for the maintenance of these animals.
 
The Minister also raised the demand of Rs.100 crore every year for the insurance of 5 lakh milching cattle of the state so that compensation could be given to the cattle breeders to compensate for the natural death of any animal.
 
In this summer meet various experts also presented their views on providing quality facilities to the cattle breeders at their door steps. Discussions were also held on preparation of a road map for solving marketing problems faced by the cattle breeders and training of cattle breeders in this regard.
 
Director of Animal Husbandry, Punjab Dr. Sabhash Chandra Goyal also participated in this summer meet.
