K’taka: 58.54 lakh voters marked as ASDDO, roll revision at 71 pc digitisation

Bengaluru, July 24 (IANS) More than 58.54 lakh voters in Karnataka have been marked under the ASDDO (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others) category as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, according to the latest data released by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka on Friday.

The CEO’s office said that, as of June 16, 2026, Karnataka had a total of 5,54,32,314 electors on its electoral rolls. Enumeration forms (EFs) have been fully printed and distributed to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the state as part of the revision exercise. The house‑to‑house enumeration and digitisation process, which began on June 30, will continue until August 8, 2026.

According to the data, all 5.54 crore enumeration forms have been distributed and 3,95,79,617 forms, accounting for 71.40 per cent of the total electorate, have already been digitised.

Of the 58,54,874 electors marked as ASDDO, officials said a significant number were identified as permanently shifted, deceased, already enrolled elsewhere or otherwise unavailable during the verification exercise.

The CEO’s office said 34,76,017 electors (6.27 per cent) were found to have permanently shifted from their registered addresses, while 12,17,592 electors (2.20 per cent) were identified as deceased.

Additionally, 3,82,083 electors (0.69 per cent) were found to have already enrolled elsewhere, while 7,62,867 voters (1.38 per cent) were categorised as untraceable or absent. Another 16,315 electors were placed under the “Others” category.

The data also showed that 6,18,924 electors, accounting for 1.12 per cent of the total electorate, have submitted their enumeration forms online.

Election officials said the Special Intensive Revision exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Karnataka’s electoral rolls ahead of future elections. The process includes door‑to‑door verification by BLOs and the digitisation of collected forms to update voter records.

The CEO’s office reiterated that the revision exercise is being conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and urged voters to cooperate with officials during the verification process.

With nearly three‑fourths of the forms already digitised and the exercise entering its final phase, election authorities are expected to intensify efforts to complete the revision before the August 8 deadline.
