Ludhiana, June 13, 2022: The PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala hosted a special visit for International delegates from Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), Japan along with scientists from ICAR – CSSRI today. In this visit, interaction was held regarding an on-going collaborative ICAR-JIRCAS project “Development of sustainable land management technologies under extreme weather conditions in South Asia” with reputed scientists, Dr.Junya Onishi, Dr. Kazu Koda, Dr. Kayo Matsui and Dr. G. Lee from JIRCAS, Japan, and Dr.Gajender Yadav, Dr. Subhashish Mondal, Ms. Manisha from ICAR-CSSRI. Dr.Gurnaz S. Gill, Asstt. Prof. (Proc. & Food Engg.), KVK, Patiala formally welcomed the guests.

Dr.Gurupdesh Kaur, Associate Professor (Home Science), KVK, Patiala gave a presentation regarding activities and accomplishments which was followed with an open discussion among the scientists regarding current agricultural scenario in district Patiala. This discussion was centred towards crop residue management and potential of extension services for the benefit of farmers.

Dr. Rajni Goel, Associate Professor (Food Science), KVK, Patiala explained the transfer of technology for guava to the farmers at grass root level. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, District Extension Education (Soils), FASC, Patiala explained the prevailing soil conditions in the district. Dr. Hardeep S. Sabhikhi, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), KVK, Patiala stressed upon the importance of integrated insect-pest management. Dr. Parminder Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Science), KVK, Patiala explained about the entrepreneurial potential in dairy, poultry and piggery. The delegates discussed in detail about prototype machinery being developed under the project with team KVK, Patiala and were provided with suitable inputs in the coming time.
