Chandigarh, February 18, 2022: KONE Elevator India, a fully owned subsidiary of KONE Corporation, as part of it’s Green Dream Project to sensitize the general public on key environmental issues, today inaugurated the latest wall paintings with special visual montages created in Chandigarh.
In collaboration with the Green Dream Foundation, KONE Elevators India initiated the Green Dream Project last year for the betterment of the community through measures that will bring in sustainable development across India. The ongoing project uplifts otherwise neglected walls, delivers a powerful message in a very effective manner, and offers good job opportunities for talented artists from different parts of the country.
The latest areas to get the sparkling facelift are the Manimajra underpass and ISBT Sector 17-22 subway, spanning 14000 sq feet. The walls were inaugurated today by Amit Gossain, Managing Director, KONE Elevators India, Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh, Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Ashish Sachdeva, Founder & President, Green Dream Foundation.
Speaking at the inauguraton, Amit Gossain, Managing Director, KONE Elevators India said, “Our Green Dream Project aims to sensitize the general public on key environmental issues – such as pollution, the need to save water, waste management, circular economy, sustainable development and so on. As an eco-conscious organization, these issues are close to our heart. We believe that using this unusual visual medium to convey our message will make it more impactful and memorable.”
”The idea behind this project was to get across this core message and make people more mindful of their actions. As a happy consequence, it also served to beautify several neglected walls – in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission. We are particularly thankful to Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh for their support in redevoping the painted areas by installing CCTV cameras, litter bins, lights, etc. to inculcate good practices”, he further added.
Ashish Sachdeva, Founder & President, Green Dream Foundation, said, ”This "first of its kind" initiative in Chandigarh could only be realised by alignment of multiple stakeholders to SDG 17 that is Partnerships for the Goals. The unique idea of redeveloping the subways through multiple interventions is already gaining great feedback from the visitors. We look forward to executing more of such socially inclusive projects aligned to the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.”
