Jalandhar, May 1, 2022: As many as 30 elderly patients, who underwent successful knee replacement surgeries in the past, shook their legs to Bhangra beats and latest pappy Punjabi songs during a patient connect program at a hotel in Jalandhar on Sunday. The event was organized by Ivy Hospital, Mohali to mark the completion of 17,000 plus knee joint surgeries at the hospital by Dr Bhanu Partap Singh Saluja, head of Ivy Institute of Orthopaedics .

Ramesh Mittal, chairman of Lovely Group was chief guest during occasion.

During the program various myths related to joint replacements were also busted. During the occasion, the patients also narrated their challenges in dealing with the knee pain and leading a healthy life after undergoing knee transplants.

“Before transplant, I used to feel excruciating pain every time I bent down. But after surgery one can see now I can participate in Bhangra and lead my normal healthy life like other healthy people.” said a knee patient in his early 70s.

Another 74 years old patient said, “I was in deep pain for many years but I got myself treated. Due to the support of my family who motivated me to go for surgery I could get rid of the severe pain that affected my life quality badly.”

Dr Bhanu said that now a new simple and elegant ‘True Motion Technique’ (TMT) is a blessing in disguise from the conventional knee replacement procedures. Arthritis patients especially benefit from this technique,”

“TMT involves surgical time of only 15-20 minutes. It gives a full range of motion within 48-hrs of surgery. After a knee replacement surgery, a patient can walk within six hours of surgery with stitch-less incision and no further follow-up is required.” said Dr Bhanu who was recently awarded with the Aarogyam Award.
