Jalandhar, October 28, 2025: The Department of Bio-Technology of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized an insightful session on “Navigating the Path to Mental Health and Wellness.” The resource person for the session was Sonu Agarwal, Managing Director of Zen Tree, Punjab — a renowned speaker, mental wellness coach, and advocate for holistic health.
Agarwal delivered an inspiring talk that focused on understanding the complexities of mental health, recognizing early signs of stress and anxiety, and adopting practical lifestyle habits to maintain emotional balance. She emphasized that mental wellness is not merely the absence of illness but a continuous process of self-awareness, self-care, and personal growth.
She also discussed how modern-day challenges such as academic competition, digital overload, and societal expectations affect mental well-being. Encouraging students to prioritize self-care, Agarwal advocated building strong social connections, and practicing mindfulness and gratitude as effective tools for emotional healing. The session included short relaxation and breathing exercises, helping students experience instant calm and focus.
Agarwal further highlighted the need to break the stigma surrounding mental health and urged open conversations about emotional challenges. The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students who posed thoughtful questions and shared their perspectives on managing stress during examinations and research work.
The discussion also explored emerging career opportunities in the fields of mental health and wellness, including counselling, life coaching, psychology, and corporate wellness programs — helping students view mental health not only as a personal responsibility but also as a promising professional domain.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasized that such sessions are vital in today’s fast-paced world to equip students with emotional intelligence and coping strategies for holistic development. She remarked that the session was truly enlightening and fostered awareness and proactive attitudes toward mental wellness. Madam Principal also appreciated the commendable efforts of Dr. Sandeep Saggu, Head, Department of Bio-Technology, for successfully organizing the event.
