KMVites perform brilliantly at Idea Hackathon

Jalandhar, January 21, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous ) has always stressed upon innovations in science education for enabling smart and inclusive growth of students. In an another major achievement, team KMVFDians from KMV bagged second position and a cash prize of 7000 rupees in Idea Hackathon (an Inter-Institutional Idea Competition) organised by Institutions Innovation Council and Incubator- TBI of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar on the occasion of National Startup Day.

The event was graced with motivating words of the distinguished chief guest, Rajiv Sikka (former CEO, Indian Oil, Adani Group), Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi (Principal, KMV, Jalandhar), Shibananda Dash (former CEO, TBI, NIT Jalandhar), and Nitish Bansal (Alumni, NITJ). Dr. J. N. Chakraborty (Dean, R&C) inaugurated the event. Students of P. G. Department of Fashion Designing, Tanvir Kaur, M.Sc. FD, Aaliya Bsc FD semester 6th, Laxmi B.Sc. FD sem-4 and Harleen  presented a start-up idea of Upcycling waste into aesthetic installations. The unique selling proposition of the project was sustainable and relevant in present times because this statue is all made up of e-waste, plastic waste and textile waste to an Aesthetic Art Installation/ Statue ( Statue of Sustainability & Empowerment) displayed on the City Roundabout. This helps the community and common citizens to associate with the theme of sustainability and how waste can be rescued from going to the landfills thereby preventing land, air and water pollution. It is pertinent to mention that the team has also been short listed for a national level competition of Idea Incubation wherein the team will try to garner funding for setting up sustainable installations made from waste.

Principal congratulated Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Head P. G. Department of Fashion Designing and Yogeshwar Hans, Head, P. G. Department of Fine Arts for this formidable achievement as 51 teams from IITs, NITs and other reputed institutions competed in this hackathon.
