Jalandhar, September 6, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) students from the PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and PG Department of English participated in a seminar on "Science Journalism: The ethics, impact and reporting of modern science" organised by Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala.
The event focused on bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding through accurate, ethical media coverage. Eminent speakers addressed the gathering, emphasising the role of media in translating complex scientific developments for mainstream audiences.
Dr. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson of the School of Communication Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh highlighted the ethical frameworks and analytical responsibilities essential for science reporters.
Renowned journalist Gaurav Shukla shared insights into the practical challenges of reporting science news, stressing the need for clarity and accuracy to combat misinformation in broadcast media.
The participating KMV students engaged in interactive discussions during the session to understand modern reporting dynamics.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi commended the department for facilitating industry exposure, stating that specialised training in fields like science journalism equips future journalists with the analytical skills and ethical grounding needed in today's media environment.
Director lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English and Sehajpal Singh, Head, PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for successfully organising the visit.
