During the visit, the students gained valuable information about the potato crop, including its improved varieties, cultivation methods, disease management, and techniques used to increase productivity and quality. The scientists and experts at the centre explained the complete process of potato research, from seed development to crop protection and storage practices. The visit also proved highly beneficial in helping students understand the future prospects and business opportunities related to potato cultivation and allied industries. They were introduced to various entrepreneurial possibilities such as seed production, crop management services, processing units, and agri-based business models. In addition, the experts also guided the students about career opportunities as a soil chemist, highlighting the importance of soil testing, nutrient analysis, and soil health management in modern agriculture. The students came to know how soil chemists play a vital role in improving crop productivity and maintaining soil fertility, which opened new avenues for their future career planning.
Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that such educational visits play an important role in connecting classroom learning with real-life applications and motivate students to explore innovative career paths in science, research, and business.
