Jalandhar, April 4, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous and Heritage Institution, Jalandhar's NSS Department organized a one-day NSS camp at Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar.
The camp was Inaugurated by SDM-II Mr.Parmveer Singh. Welcoming the guest Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi , Principal, KMV extended her best wishes to NSS volunteers and explained the aim and importance of the camp. She also distributed drawing material, stationary and sweets to the girls residing in the ashram. 65 NSS volunteers from different streams of the college participated in this camp with full zeal and enthusiasm. All the participating NSS volunteers were divided into 8 groups and each group was assigned a group leader and different task like cleanliness, hygiene, counseling, environment, survey, hospitality, ground leveling, cultural etc During the camp each group performed different activities like Tree plantation in which group one was engaged in making arrangements for tree plantation and around 30 plants were planted within the ashram . The Second group carried out a survey to collect general information about ashram girls. The Third group was supervised by Dr. Radhika, Department of Psychology, KMV who held a counseling session in the ashram for its girls and addressed various issues related to them. Some important issues related to personal health and hygiene, menstruation etc. were addressed by fourth group and the fifth group cleaned the ashram campus as well as leveled the ground and planted different saplings. At the end some cultural activities were also organized in which ashram girls participated under the supervision of NSS volunteers . Madam Principal congratulated the NSS unit for successful completion of the camp and appreciated the efforts made by NSS volunteers during the camp and encouraged them to continue to do same.
