Another step towards providing world class education to the students: Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi

KMV to commence all Post Graduate Programmes in Internationally-accepted Credit Based System from session 2022-23

Jalandhar, June 17, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) is always at forefront in adopting the mandates of UGC under New Education Policy (NEP). KMV under autonomy is always introducing new reforms in different programmes to fulfil the requirements of New Education Policy and to take the quality of education at par with top global universities. One major step in this direction is that KMV has decided to commence all the Post Graduate Programmes into Credit Based Grading Continuous Evaluation System from the session 2022-23.

Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this system is an international system followed by a majority of global educational institutions worldwide and is also one of the major reform under new education policy of India. The credits obtained by students under this system will be stored in Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and hence, students will be able to transfer their credits for their degree to any other institution. Under this system, students will have to obtain some minimum number of credits for their degree, and moreover, students will study any two interdisciplinary courses of their choice from a pool of ID courses. This step will promote interdisciplinary approach which is also in sync with the New Education Policy. It is worth mentioning here that this system will be applicable to all MA, MSc, M.Com. Programmes at KMV as KMV is already very successfully running its 8 B. Voc. and 3 M. Voc. programmes in Credit system. This move will take KMV to the forerunners that offers all PG degrees and diplomas in Credit based grading system. Prof. Dwivedi also eloquently explained about all the new age programs including Honours programs and various value added and skill based courses offered at undergraduate level for BA, B.Sc. and B.Com students only at KMV that are much to the benefit of the students. These courses will go a long way in integrating skill based vocational education along with traditional programmes.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi further maintained that that these reforms which meet global standards will help students gain an edge and will enable them to get assimilated in global education system. Principal lauded the efforts of all the members of the Academic Council of KMV.
