Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the fellowship offers potential financial support of about ₹5 lakh per year—including a monthly student fellowship of ₹37,000—to advance the project toward product development. The project is led by students Manpreet Kaur and Harmapreet Kaur under the the leadership of Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi and mentorship of Dr. Neetu Verma and Dr. Surbhi. JalNiryaas is designed to automatically eject stagnant water from roads across different water levels while alerting commuters and allowing for water collection, reflecting the institution's commitment to socially relevant technological solutions. The journey of JalNiryaas began with conceptualisation in 2020, followed by prototype development into a working model in 2021, and earned national and international recognition between 2022 and 2026. It achieved major milestones with a design patent in 2023, a process patent in 2024, a showcase at the International Museum Expo 2024 at Science City, Kolkata, and a Rank 1 in the North Zone by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell. After selection through the initial rounds of the YUKTI Innovation Challenge and AICTE Productization Fellowship in 2025, the project advanced to the final round in 2026.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi praised the team's dedication, emphasizing how this accomplishment reinforces KMV's vision of empowering young women to become confident innovators through science and technology.
