KMV Signs MoU with Rutgers University, USA, for Global Academic Collaboration in New Delhi

Jalandhar, November 13, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar, has achieved a major milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rutgers University, USA, one of the world’s leading public research universities.

On behalf of KMV, the MoU was signed by President Chander Mohan and on behalf of Rutgers University it was signed by Dr. Alberto Cuitiño, Dean, School of Engineering, Rutgers University. The signing ceremony was held on Monday, at the Institute of International Education (IIE), India Office, New Delhi.

Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi was present during the ceremony. 

The event was graced by a distinguished Rutgers University delegation, including Dr. Hao Lin, Associate Dean for Graduate and International Education; Dr. Ashutosh Goel, Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Dr. Eric Garfunkel, Vice President for Global Affairs; Dr. George S. Leibowitz, Dean, School of Social Work; Dr. Lia Nower, Associate Dean for Research; and Dr. Mohini Mukherjee, Executive Director, International Student and Scholar Services.

This partnership builds upon prior academic interactions between the two institutions — notably the visit of Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi to Rutgers University in May 2025, and the visit of Prof. Hao Lin from Rutgers University to KMV in June 2025.
Dr Gopi Sharma, Dean of International Affairs, and Dr Jatinder Pal, Director of Research, were also present at the ceremony in New Delhi.

The MoU outlines collaboration in student and faculty exchange, joint research projects and credit recognition for KMV students under 4+1 and 3+2 degree models. KMV students will also be exempted from English proficiency tests such as IELTS or Duolingo, and Rutgers University is considering subsidised tuition fees for KMV students. Additionally, both institutions plan to introduce a 1+1 programs in various faculties.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi stated that this partnership marks a major step in KMV’s mission to provide global exposure and collaborative learning opportunities,  strengthening its commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
Over the years, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) has established itself as a pioneer in fostering global academic partnerships and cross-cultural learning. The institution has collaborated with several reputed international universities and organisations across the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe to promote student exchange, faculty development, and joint research initiatives. KMV has successfully executed exchange programs, global internships, and collaborative research projects that provide students with exposure to international academic standards and innovation-driven learning environments. These collaborations have enabled KMV scholars to participate in advanced studies abroad, global seminars and cultural immersion programs, thereby enhancing the college’s vision of empowering women through world-class education. The new partnership with Rutgers University further strengthens KMV’s expanding global network and reaffirms its commitment to international excellence and educational innovation.

It is worth a mention here that the delegates from Rutgers University, USA had visited India to sign this singular MoU with two institutions of eminence- one being KMV and the other IIT, Chennai.

President Chander Mohan congratulated the Principal and faculty of KMV for this remarkable achievement and lauded their continuous efforts in establishing KMV as a globally recognised institution of higher learning.
