KMV pays nostalgic tribute to Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh on his 115th Birth Anniversary

Jalandhar, September 28, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) paid a great tribute to the great hero of the country Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh on the occasion of 115th birth anniversary of the young revolutionary. 
Various activities were organized during the occasion in order to commemorate this day. Department of History and KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School paid a rich tribute to the great hero of the country by organising a Poetical Symposium. 

During this occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi along with the faculty members and the students paid a floral tribute at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage Memorial in the KMV hostel. Prof. Dwivedi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the great soul. She averred that the courageous sacrifice of Bhagat Singh ignited the spark of patriotism among countless people and a country always needs these kind of souls for the better development and progress. She further maintained that it is a matter of great pride that KMV has a close connection with Bhagat Singh as he was very close to KMV’s then Principal Acharya Lajjawati ji and used to take shelter at KMV during the struggle for national freedom. As a mark of our tribute to Bhagat Singh and to cherish close connection and association with him, KMV has constructed a heritage memorial in the pristine surroundings of KMV hostel. KMV is a nationalistic institution which has played an active role in the freedom struggle as our students have been among the first women to join the freedom struggle. She further maintained that Bhagat Singh's idealism coupled with his sacrifice made him a hero and an inspiration for many.

Prof. Dwivedi adumbrated that students must inculcate the ideology of Bhagat Singh in themselves and make their character rich so that they can become good leaders in future. During the symposium, students from PG Department of Mathematics expressed their gratitude to the patriotic soul in the form of speeches, poems, songs and dance performances. Amanpreet Kaur delivered a speech on the ideology of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Vajinder Kaur recited a poem on the life history of the revolutionary soul, Muskan Dogra sung a song in praise of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Nimanshi performed a dance on a patriotic song. An Essay Writing competition was also organized in which students from all streams participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and highlighted the revolutionary spirit, patriotism and life philosophy of Bhagat Singh. A play titled ‘Mai Bhagat Singh’ was also enacted by the students in which students acquainted everyone about the ideology of Bhagat Singh as the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh instilled a fiery spirit in the hearts of young people which in turn gave a great impetus to the freedom struggle. In addition to this, a cycle rally was also organized  in which students actively took part.

The rally was flagged off by Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The aim of the rally was to motivate people to use cycling for a healthy and physically fit life. Two expert talks for paying tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh was also organized in which Dr Monica Sharma, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre and Dr Ekta highlighted the life and philosophy of Bhagat Singh. Dr Monica said that the ideology of the martyr is reflective of the fact that the youth of India is still drawing tremendous amount of inspiration from him.

The second speaker Dr. Ekta speaking on the Philosophy of Bhagat Singh highlighted the ideology and life approach of Bhagat Singh and also shed light on the sources of inspiration of Bhagat Singh. A slogan and poster making competition was also organized on this occasion in which students through their posters and slogans highlighted the life struggle of Bhagat Singh and also made everyone aware about the thought process of Bhagat Singh. 100 Students of KMV also participated in a marathon organized by District Administration, Jalandhar and 50 students also visited Jang-E-Azaadi museum, Kartarpur in order to watch the special screening of documentary based on the life of Bhagat Singh. 

Principal congratulated Dr. Gurjot, Head, Department of History, Dr Veena Deepak, Dr Suman Khurana, Dr Rupika & Dr Davinder and the whole organizing committee for organizing such a grand event successfully.
