KMV pays a rich tribute to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 76th death anniversary

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), a nationalistic institution paid its heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 76th death anniversary. On this occasion, a special program was organised by the Gandhian Studies Centre and History Department.

Jalandhar, January 30, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), a nationalistic institution paid its heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 76th death anniversary. On this occasion, a special program was organised by the Gandhian Studies Centre and History Department. 

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi paid homage to Gandhiji's photo on this occasion. While addressing on this occasion, she inspired the students by taking inspiration from the life and philosophy of Gandhiji and told them to follow the principles of truth, non-violence, peace, cleanliness, selfless service, Swadeshi, women education and empowerment, economic self-reliance, unity & integrity etc. She further maintained that it is a matter of great pride for a nationalist institution like Kanya Maha Vidyalaya for being accepted as a torchbearer for other educational institutions by Gandhiji in Harijan. Apart from this, the music department also paid tribute to Gandhiji by singing his favourite hymns during the programme. It is pertinent to mention that the centre has empowered more than 4000 girls free of cost both within the college campus and through various camps in villages. 

On this occasion, students who completed their free of cost computer course under the centre were felicitated with the certificates, and moreover, students who are accomplishing the task of social outreach in various villages according to the Gandhian philosophy were also honoured. 

Principal lauded the efforts made by Dr. Monika Sharma, Director, Centre for Gandhian Studies and Dr. Gurjot, Head, Department of History for this successful event.
