Jalandhar, September 25, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P.G. Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar, an autonomous and heritage institution, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers - National Anveshika Network of India (IAPT-NANI), organized a "Hands-on Training Physics Workshop and Student-Student Mentoring Session" for the students of Shiv Jyoti Public School.
Held at the Innovation Hub The program aimed to foster a spirit of innovation, scientific curiosity, and creativity by inspiring young minds to explore physics through hands-on experimentation, problem-solving, and innovative thinking. The workshop brought together school students, college student mentors, and faculty members. The session commenced with an Experimental Physics Hands-on Workshop designed to make learning physics engaging, interactive, and experiential. Emphasizing a "learning-by-doing" approach, the workshop enabled students to observe physical phenomena, perform experiments, ask critical questions, and connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Dr. Neetu Verma, Head of the P.G. Department of Physics, along with Dr. Surbhi, Assistant Professor of Physics, conducted the workshop and demonstrated a wide array of fascinating and thought-provoking experiments. Throughout the session, participants explored key areas of physical science including transverse and longitudinal waves using slinky, simple pendulum, wave machine, and coupled pendulums, as well as principles of electromagnetism and mechanics such as Lenz’s Law, centrifugation, tensegrity, and rotational mechanics. Advanced physical phenomena were also demonstrated through earthquake detection, plasma globe demonstrations, water and plasma interaction, and the mechanical workings of daily-use devices like head massagers.
Director Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that by directly observing wave propagation, oscillations, resonance, electromagnetic induction, structural stability, and vibrations, students gained a deeper understanding of how fundamental physical principles explain complex natural and mechanical occurrences.
