KMV organises Social Outreach Activity

Jalandhar, July 20, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a Social Outreach Activity at Banarasi Dass Charitable School, Transport Nagar, Jalandhar. The program was organised by PG Department of Mathematics. Students of Master of Science (Mathematics) Sem II and IV and Bachelor of Science (Honours) Mathematics Semester-IV along with three teachers- Anand Prabha, Dr. Monika and Kirandeep Kaur participated in this activity. It was one day grooming camp where students of LKG to sixth standard were taught basics of Mathematics like addition, subtraction, multiplication and number system etc. Different charts depicting counting from 1 to 100, Multiplication tables, Indian place value system, International place value system, Mathematical shapes were displayed in school classrooms. 

Dr. Monika throw a light on the Indian place value system and International place value system. Kiran demonstrated different Mathematical shapes through the Mathematical kit. Moreover, students of M.Sc and B.Sc prepared seed balls in the shape of rectangle, triangle, cylinder, cone etc. and they planted the same in school premises to make students aware about importance of plantation for the existence of life. A chart on hygiene habits especially how to wash your hands was displayed in the premises of the school and Anand Prabha from the Maths department demonstrated how to wash the hands before and after meal for inculcating a habit of hygiene among them. To enjoy the happiness of giving, Mahrukh Khurshid, Nimanshi, Himani and Harpreet Kaur, students of Bachelor of Science (Honours) Mathematics Semester-IV, distributed notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and eatables among needy students. 

Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these kind of activities inculcates the habit of sharing and caring among the students. Principal lauded the efforts of Veena Deepak, Head, PG Department of Mathematics and other faculty members of Mathematics Department for successfully organising the program.
