Jalandhar, August 11, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated its 140th Saraswati Poojan Samaroh with traditional fervour to mark the beginning of the new academic session. The auspicious event was graced by Smt. Jyotsana Mohan, acclaimed writer and Senior News Editor, as the chief guest, who was warmly felicitated with floral tributes.
The proceedings began with an invocation to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of Learning, seeking her blessings for the new entrants of the session. Senior scholars presented melodious welcome songs to greet the fresh batch of students embarking on their journey of higher education at KMV, while the newcomers expressed heartfelt gratitude through a recital.
Distinguished members of the KMV Managing Committee, including Dr. Sushma Chawla (Vice President), Neerja Chander Mohan, Dr. Satpal Gupta, Dr. Kamal Gupta, and Suresh Seth honoured the occasion with their presence.
Welcoming the chief guest, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi highlighted KMV’s rich legacy, spanning three centuries as a cradle of women’s emancipation, empowering generations with quality education. She informed that the institution continues to create history, with its latest milestone being the establishment of KMV Technical Institute, approved by AICTE to run MBA and MCA programmes. She also noted KMV’s recognition by the University Grants Commission as an NEP SAARTHI institution, applauding its exemplary implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 through innovative academic initiatives.
Congratulating KMV on its consistent achievements, Smt. Jyotsana Mohan lauded the college for earning the trust of generations and producing women leaders across the globe. She encouraged students to seize the vast opportunities available today by balancing aspirations with practical realities. She observed that although becoming a voice has always been a challenge for women, perseverance and self-belief are the keys to standing out in any field.
The event also celebrated the meritorious achievements of KMV scholars in International Placements, Start-ups, Innovative Ventures, Co-curricular Activities, NCC, and Sports. Faculty members were honoured for their accomplishments in research, publications, IPRs, and patents. The ceremony witnessed the release of Youth Pulse, the annual newsline by the Department of ECA, showcasing students’ national and international accomplishments.
In her concluding address, Dr. Sushma Chawla extended a formal vote of thanks, urging students to combine physical well-being with intellectual pursuits for a fulfilling career. The Principal congratulated the organising team — Dr. Manju Sahni, Dr. Reena Sharma, Dr. Madhumeet, and the PG Department of Music — for the successful culmination of this significant annual event.
