KMV Hostel Celebrates Janmashtami with Devotion and Festivity
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), renowned for its vibrant cultural ethos, celebrated the festival of Janmashtami with immense devotion and joy at its hostel campus. The celebration brought together hostel residents and staff for a memorable evening filled with spiritual fervour and festive cheer.

Jalandhar, August 17, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), renowned for its vibrant cultural ethos, celebrated the festival of Janmashtami with immense devotion and joy at its hostel campus. The celebration brought together hostel residents and staff for a memorable evening filled with spiritual fervour and festive cheer.
The chief guest on the occasion was Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, who graced the event with her presence. The highlight of the festivities was the traditional Matka-breaking competition, where students formed a human pyramid in the hostel courtyard, recreating Lord Krishna’s playful love for butter and his spirit of mischief. The activity not only showcased teamwork and camaraderie but also filled the atmosphere with excitement and energy.
Adding more colour to the event was the Gopi Dressing competition, in which students enthusiastically donned traditional attire, embodying the charm and vibrancy of Lord Krishna’s companions. The creative costumes and spirited performances brought a lively touch to the celebration.
The evening also featured devotional music and soulful bhajans, creating a serene and spiritual ambience. Principal Prof. Dwivedi lauded the enthusiastic participation of students and expressed her happiness, stating, “Janmashtami is a celebration of Lord Krishna’s divine playfulness. At KMV Hostel, we wished to bring this spirit alive, fostering unity, joy, and cultural awareness among our students.”
She further commended the Hostel Warden and student volunteers for their dedicated efforts in organising the event, which left all participants with cherished memories and a deeper understanding of the significance of Lord Krishna’s birthday.
