KMV Honours more than 312 Meritorious Scholars in 137th Prize Distribution Function

Jalandhar, May 15, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized  its 137th Annual Prize Distribution Function to celebrate academic excellence and meritorious achievements of its scholars. The Chief Guest Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal was accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. Dr Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee was the Presiding Dignitary for the occasion. Neerja Chander Mohan, Member, KMV Managing Committee, Sushila Bhagat, Member, KMV Managing Committee, Dr Satpal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee and Neeru Kapoor, Member, KMV Managing Committee also graced the event with their valuable presence. 

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi in her welcoming address read out the detailed Annual Report of the college’s outstanding achievements in various fields-academics, co academics, sports, cultural activities etc. Enumerating numerous success stories, Prof. Dwivedi apprised the eminent guests that KMV, being the first women institution in Punjab to earn the coveted status of Autonomous institution- with all its freedom to bring out academic reforms for the progression of young India, is yielding enviable results. She averred that winning streak has always been the hallmark of educational standards at KMV. She briefed the guests that KMV has recently been bestowed with CURIE Grant of Rs. 90 Lakhs by DST, Government of India. The only college in the region to offer interdisciplinary choices of subjects at Post Graduate level with credit based system. 

Chander Mohan reaffirmed his faith in the immense potential and indomitable will of the KMV scholars, mentoring skills of the faculty and futuristic and motivational guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi that are all in a synergised way taking the institution to newer heights year after year. He said that National and State Top Rankings bagged by KMV in prestigious India Today and Outlook Magazine’s Survey of Best Colleges 2021 speak volumes about its qualitatively progressive approach towards Higher Education for today’s women. He further said that KMV provides all the students with wings to fly so that they can reach to greater heights in their lives. The Best Student of the year Award was bagged by Aarzoo, a  student of  B.A. (Hons.) English Sem.VI for her outstanding performance in academic as well as cultural activities and competitions at various levels. 

Yukta Mayor was awarded with Principal Special Award for her outstanding performance in all the activities. Prizes were given away to deserving students in various categories of college and collegiate students to promote multifarious life skills such as Entrepreneurship, Innovations and Creativity, Leadership and Initiative, Regular visits to the library, 100% attendance, NCC, Best Modeling and Best Design etc.  Excellent students in Science, Commerce, Computer Science, English, ECA, & Sports Stars also bagged prizes for their exemplary performances at various levels. On this occasion, Wings- A Flight towards Excellence, a student journal of PG Department of Commerce & Business Administration was also released. 

The formal Vote of Thanks was accorded by Dr Sushma Chawla to all the luminaries and guests who graced the occasion. Two faculty members Dr Neetu Chopra, PG Department of Physics & Dr Monica, PG Department of Mathematics were also honored for their exemplary contribution to the field of research. 

Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Neeraj Maini, Dr Rashmi Sharma and the whole organizing committee for successfully organizing the event. Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English was the anchor for the event.
