KMV focuses on Women's Health with expert talk on Menstrual Hygiene and PCOD
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Home Science and Nutrition organized an insightful extension lecture on Menstrual Hygiene and Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) as part of its ongoing commitment to women’s health education and empowerment.

Jalandhar, May 2, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Home Science and Nutrition organized an insightful extension lecture on Menstrual Hygiene and Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) as part of its ongoing commitment to women’s health education and empowerment.
The expert speaker for the session was Dr. Nidhi Garg, a renowned gynecologist from Kamal Hospital, Jalandhar. The lecture aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world healthcare practices by connecting students directly with industry professionals. Dr. Nidhi Garg provided a comprehensive overview of menstrual health, emphasizing the importance of hygiene and regular health check-ups. She also discussed the rising incidence of PCOD among young women, explaining its causes, symptoms, and the pivotal role of nutrition, exercise and stress management in its prevention and treatment. The session was highly interactive, with students engaging in meaningful dialogue and receiving practical guidance.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this initiative reflects KMV’s holistic approach to education, which includes equipping students with essential life skills and health awareness and KMV’s endeavor to promote student well-being while also fostering industry-academia collaboration. She lauded the efforts of the department in organizing such a relevant and impactful event.
