KMV Commences 6th INSPIRE Camp

Jalandhar, December 1, 2015: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organised 6th INSPIRE 5-day camp in collaboration with DST for the promotion of scientific temper and interest among the top 1% meritorious students of Punjab. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session,  Mr.Kamal Kishore Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar was accorded floral felicitations by the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. In her welcome address, Prof. Sharma exhorted the young brigade of scholars to imbibe analytical thinking as the most essential trait to become a scientist to work towards eradication of unexamined practices in our society.
Mr. Yadav, in his address to the young aspiring scholars motivated them to set their targets of life intelligently and pursue them ruthlessly. Camps like INSPIRE provide a forum to the ambitious youth to make judicious choice of their career under the mentorship of eminent scientists.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Dean College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar urged the teaching faculty to add practical component in their pedagogy to inculcate interest among Science students in their respective fields. 
The General Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, Mr. Alok Sondhi, inspiring the budding scientists, averred that excellence in Science & Technology will help India not only in raising its standards of living but also establish itself in today’s knowledge society with its intellectual base. Passionate pursuit of careers should be the buzz-word for this goal. 
Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee emphasized that mental health and pursuit of goal must go hand in hand.
The Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chopra underlined the importance of science in life that is unimaginable without it.
Dr. Gopi Sharma from P.G. Dept. of Physics, KMV, during her talk, enlightened the scholars about the use of glass in daily life in an illustrative way.
The post-lunch session witnessed some hands on experiments in Physics conducted by Dr. Neetu Chopra and Ms. Ekta, PG Dept. of Physics, KMV. The talk delivered by Dr. Anish Dua, Prof. Dept. of Zoology, GNDU, Amritsar enlightened the camping students on some informative aspects and prospects of Zoological Sciences.
The overwhelming response of 244 students from 32 schools of Punjab will definitely ensure an increase in the in-take of basic sciences, a sure step towards the success of such an initiative as INSPIRE camp is. The organising Secretary of INSPIRE Camp, Dr. Sangeeta Prashar, P.G. Dept. of Physics extended the vote of thanks to the eminent guests and scholars.
