Jalandhar: KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School organised an awareness rally under the state government’s Buddy Programme, an initiative of the Department of Student Welfare aimed at promoting social responsibility among students. The rally was dedicated to spreading awareness about the menace of drug abuse.
Students participated enthusiastically by carrying posters, placards, and raising slogans, highlighting their commitment to building a drug-free society. Many of them acted as “senior buddies” to guide and motivate their peers, reflecting the core principle of the Buddy Programme, which emphasises peer-to-peer support and leadership.
At KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, the programme is implemented through small groups led by senior buddies. These groups regularly participate in activities such as poster-making competitions, lectures, and rallies to spread awareness and provide mutual support.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi stated that KMV strongly believes in holistic education, which nurtures not only academic excellence but also social consciousness. “The success of this rally is a testament to the dedication of our students and faculty in addressing social challenges. By empowering students as leaders and mentors, we are building a responsible and aware future generation,” she added.
Principal Dwivedi also lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare, for successfully organising the event.
