KMV Celebrates Teej with Cultural Vibrancy and Enthusiasm
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated Teej, the vibrant festival of the Sawan month, with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was jointly organised by the PG Department of Punjabi and the Department of E.C.A.

Jalandhar, August 13, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated Teej, the vibrant festival of the Sawan month, with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was jointly organised by the PG Department of Punjabi and the Department of E.C.A.
The celebrations were graced by Vice President of the KMV Managing Committee Dr. Sushma Chawla, Secretary Dr. Sushma Chopra, committee members Neerja Chander Mohan, Anuradha Sondhi, and Dr. Kamal Gupta. Distinguished guests included Vaani Vij, Director, Dainik Savera; Ruchi Vij; Dr. Paramjit Kaur Ghuman; Mala; Sangeeta Sehgal; Manjit Grewal; and many others.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the guests, extended greetings on Teej, and highlighted the festival’s cultural significance. She emphasised that KMV, as an institution committed to women’s empowerment while blending modernity with tradition, has always played a leading role in preserving India’s rich cultural heritage.
The atmosphere came alive with traditional Punjabi folk songs and dances, while stalls offering delicious dishes, mehndi, costumes, and jewellery—prepared by students—added to the festive charm. Activities such as Kikli (a traditional Punjabi dance) and a modelling competition saw enthusiastic student participation.
Special titles were awarded to participants, including Harmanjot as Miss Teej, Tanvit for Sohna Punjabi Pehrawa, Devanshi for Tunehari Akh, Sukhman for Motiyan Varge Dand, Simranjot for Saru Varga Kad, Diya for Surahidar Gardan, Pallavi for Sohna Haasa, Harneet Kaur for Tor Punjaban Di, Pawandeep Kaur for Nakhrili Mutiyaar, and Muskanjot for Gidhiyaan di Raani.
Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Gurjot, Dean, ECA; Dr. Harpreet, Head, PG Department of Punjabi; Dr. Poonam Sharma; Geetika; and all members of the organising committee for the successful execution of the celebrations.
