KMV celebrates National Sports Day

Jalandhar, August 28,2021: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya celebrated National Sports Day with full zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations were organised by the Department of Physical Education. During the celebrations , a National Webinar was organised on the topic  Built to Move (Moving is in our DNA). Prof. Nishan Singh Deol, Head, Department of Physical Education, Punjabi University, Patiala participated as the resource speaker. 

Addressing more than 200 participants on the topic, Prof. Deol elaborated on the importance of sports in the life of every human being. Highlighting the importance of sports as per the new education policy of the Government of India, he said that sports were not limited to the sportspersons but their existence was linked to a strong foundation of physical and mental fitness of every individual. At the same time, he emphasised on the need to encourage the present generation of youngsters who are getting addicted to drugs to exercise and play various national and international sports. At the end of the webinar, the answers to various questions asked by the students were also given by Dr. Deol in a very satisfactory manner. 

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the basis of success, prosperity and fitness in life is sports. While sports instil a sense of sportsmanship in a person, they also help in inculcating qualities like leadership and team spirit in them. At the same time, she maintained that KMV recognising the importance of sports, encourage students to participate in various sports as well as also provide free education, food & accommodation etc. to the sportspersons. Principal lauded the efforts of Department of Physical Education for successfully organising the webinar.
