KMV celebrates national girl child day

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya celebrated the National Girl Child Day in collaboration with District Administration, Jalandhar with the purpose to honour girl achievers during the function.      

    
Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar was the chief guest on the occasion. Other luminaries who graced the occasion included Mr Amarjit Singh Bhullar, District Program Officer, Mr Manvinder Singh, District Public Relations Officer &     Mr Surjit Lal. 

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi accorded floral welcome to the esteemed guests. Addressing the gathering, Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar told the students that National Girl Child Day is celebrated all over India in order to make the people aware about the gender equality. Stressing on the contribution of KMV, he said that KMV being one of the oldest institution of this country have always been a forerunner in creating a gender just society by spreading the awareness through education. 

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has always work for the cause of women empowerment by making the girls educated & preparing them for the future.             

Prof. Dwivedi maintained that the objectives for celebrating this day was to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by girls in the country, to promote awareness about the rights of a girl child & to increase awareness on the importance of girl education, health and nutrition. On this occasion, girls from various fields who have achieved extraordinary success in their lives were also honoured to motivate them for the future. Two students from KMV namely Hira & Harman were also honoured for their extraordinary achievements in the field of sports & academics respectively. 

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Student Welfare Department for successfully organizing the event. The girls who were honoured by the district administration includes Twinkle Choudhary, Manpreet Kaur, Radha Devi, Malika Handa, Palak Kohli, Harmanpreet Kaur, Kareena, Shikha Choudhary, Sheena, Meenal Mahajan, Kamalpreet Kaur, Jasveen Kaur, Neha, Aarti, Sukhjot Kaur & Bharti. Dr Aruna, SMO, Mrs Harvinder Kaur (Child Development Project Officer) & Bibi Parkash Kaur, Bhai Ghaniayan ji Charitable Trust, Jalandhar were also honoured for their contribution to the society. Various schools were also honoured who have worked for the cause of girl education. These schools include Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Phillaur, Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Basti Sheikh.
