The Department of Paediatrics, DMC&H  in collaboration with Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI)—a non-governmental, non-funded and registered NGO—organized an event titled “Khwaish”, a Diwali celebration dedicated to young cancer patients, in the Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H.

Ludhiana, October 22, 2025: The Department of Paediatrics, DMC&H  in collaboration with Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI)—a non-governmental, non-funded and registered NGO—organized an event titled “Khwaish”, a Diwali celebration dedicated to young cancer patients, in the Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H.
Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) has been a leading force in cancer care across the nation for the past 25 years. The organization works primarily with disadvantaged sections of society, providing vital services such as health education and awareness, free detection and screening camps, and financial assistance for cancer patients and their families.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Mona Singh, Managing Trustee, Global Cancer Concern India, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr Sandeep Sharma, Medical Supdt.; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr Ashima Taneja, Addl. Medical Supdt., Dr Puneet A Pooni, Professor and Head of Pediatrics, Dr Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Professor of Paedtric Oncology and other faculty members of DMC&H.
Mona Singh, Managing Trustee, Global Cancer Concern India, introduced GCCI’s mission and ongoing projects, reiterating the organization’s dedication to cancer awareness and patient welfare.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, appreciated the noble initiative and highlighted the importance of compassion and community support in the healing journey of young patients.
Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, congratulated the Department of Paediatrics and GCCI for their continuous efforts in improving the quality of life for children battling cancer.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics, shared insights into the development and journey of the Paedrtics Oncology ward at DMC&H.
Students from Nankana Sahib Public School presented a vibrant cultural performance during the event, adding colour and cheer to the celebration. Our young fighters also showcased their talents through engaging performances, spreading smiles and festive spirit across the auditorium. To make the celebration even more special, gifts were distributed to the young fighters, bringing joy and encouragement to the children and their families.
