Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan-2022- Block level competitions start in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, September 1, 2022: Under the 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan - 2022' organized by Government of Punjab, block level multiple sporting events started in the district on Thursday. 

Under-14 (boys-girls), matches of Volleyball, Athletics, Football, Kho-Kho, tug of war were held in all 14 blocks across Ludhiana on Thursday. As many as 4500 players took part in the matches. 

District Sports Officer Ravinder Singh said that today was first day of block level games and the matches for under-17 (boys-girls), Kabbadi (circle and national style) would be held on September 2 (Friday) while for age groups between the age group of 21 and 40, tug of war tournament would take place on September 3 and 4. For the age above than 41 and 50 & above 50, the tournaments of Athletics, Volleyball and Shooting will be organized from September 5 to 6. 

Singh said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to make Punjab first in sports and 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ a sporting extravaganza, would give a platform to the youths for exhibiting their talents at the grassroots and producing champions. He said that the winners of the block level competitions would compete in the district level competitions from September 12 to September 22 and the winners of these competitions would play in the state level sports competitions from October 10 to October 21.

Revealing about results of today’s games, District Sports Officer stated that in Athletics 100m (Boys) (urban block), Sunny Kumar bagged first position while Naveen Bhatia bagged second and Anurag bagged third position. In athletics 100m (girls), Nirosh Sohi secured first, Hanah second and Soni third positions. In Athletics 200m (Boys), Sunny Kumar ranked first, Utkash Syal second and Kanav third. In athletics 200m (girls), Khushi Tyagi won first, Nirosh Sohi and Pahal stood second and third respectively. 

Similarly, he also informed that in long jump (boys) Naman got first, Aditya second and Hrithik third positions. In shot put (boys), Sumit got first, Wilbal second and Gurmehar third places. In Kho-Kho (Boy) in GSSS Jawahar Nagar stood first while Ramgarhia School, Miller Ganj bagged the second position and Nankana Sahib Public School bagged the third position. Kho-Kho (Girls) in GSSS Jawahar Nagar stood first while Nankana Public School stood second and IPS school bagged the third position.

Under block Maloud, in Athletics 100 meters (boys), Jaspreet Singh won first place, Mohammad Anwar and Sukhchanpreet Singh won the second and third places respectively. In Athletics 100m (girls), Khushpreet, Mehkdeep Kaur and Manjot Kaur bagged first, second and third positions respectively. Kho-Kho (Boy) in GSSS. Sihora secured the first position and Mittal School, Saharan Majra secured the second position. In Pakhowal, GSSS Pamaal took the first, GSSS Chaminda won second and GHS. Ghungrana secured the third position. GHS in Kho-Kho (Girls). Ranguwal first and GHS Ghungrana got second place.
