Ludhiana, December 30, 2025: Under the able, strict and visionary leadership of SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains (IPS), Khanna Police delivered an outstanding and record-breaking performance in 2025, giving the district a new identity in its fight against drugs and crime. Compared to the previous year, the police took far more effective and decisive action against drug traffickers, criminals and absconders, significantly strengthening public confidence and the sense of safety among citizens.

Acting in strict compliance with the clear and tough directions issued by Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav against drugs and crime, Khanna Police recorded historic achievements during the year. Continuous, planned and intelligence-based action against drug trafficking, serious crimes, illegal weapons and absconding offenders transformed the district police into a strong symbol of trust and law enforcement. This success was driven by a clear strategy, firm supervision and close ground-level monitoring led by SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains.

Sharing details of the achievements, SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains said that the DGP’s “zero tolerance” policy was implemented with complete seriousness. Khanna Police launched an uninterrupted and uncompromising campaign against drugs, the impact of which remained visible throughout 2025.

The SSP informed that Khanna Police district comprises three sub-divisions—Khanna, Payal and Samrala—covering eight police stations: Sadar Khanna, City Khanna, City Khanna-2, Payal, Malaud, Doraha, Samrala and Machhiwara Sahib. All police stations worked in close coordination to ensure swift and decisive action against criminals.

During 2025, Khanna Police registered 719 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 1,250 small and big drug traffickers. In comparison, 246 cases were registered and 332 traffickers arrested in 2024. These figures clearly reflect that the anti-drug drive in 2025 was several times more aggressive and effective.

The SSP further stated that during the year, police recovered 8 kg 268 g 62 mg heroin, 12 kg 240 g opium, 12 quintals 59 kg poppy husk, 526 g 71 mg intoxicant powder, 25 kg 575 g ganja, 14 g 5 mg smack, 40 kg black poppy, 20 kg 1 g 94 mg ice drug, 1,082 intoxicant capsules, over 21,000 drug tablets, 100 injections, 20 syrups and 190 poppy plants. Drug money amounting to ₹31,91,230 was also seized.

Strict action was taken against medical stores involved in drug trafficking. Cases were registered against three medical store owners, the licence of one store was cancelled and two shops were sealed. Additionally, 24 commercial recovery cases were registered and 51 major drug traffickers were arrested in 2025, compared to 21 cases and 36 arrests in 2024.

Khanna Police also performed strongly in tackling serious crimes. All 171 serious crime cases registered in 2025 were traced on priority, and 238 accused were arrested. SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains made it clear that, as per the DGP’s directions, not a single serious crime case was left untraced.

Under the Arms Act, 14 cases were registered and 29 accused were arrested, leading to the recovery of 42 pistols and revolvers, 33 magazines and 65 cartridges. Under the Excise Act, 80 cases were registered and 92 accused were arrested.

To strengthen police-public relations and raise awareness against drugs, 3,016 contact meetings were organised under the “War on Drugs” campaign. Treatment of 4,085 individuals willing to quit drugs was initiated at government de-addiction centres. During this period, 107 CASO operations were conducted and 343 villages were declared drug de-addiction villages. Properties worth approximately ₹1.29 crore belonging to eight individuals were seized under Section 68F of the NDPS Act.

Khanna Police also intensified action against absconders, arresting 40 proclaimed offenders, including nine involved in drug trafficking cases. To keep youth away from drugs, the police promoted sports and healthy activities by organising marathons, football, cricket and volleyball tournaments, yoga events and Run for Unity programmes.

Overall, the strong, honest and highly effective performance of Khanna Police in 2025 stands as a testament to the capable leadership of SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains. The achievements have significantly strengthened law and order in Khanna district and further enhanced public trust in the police.
