Khanna Police achieves major success under ongoing special campaign against drug trafficking

Ludhiana: Today Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, SSP/Khanna has disclosed through a press conference that Khanna Police has achieved a major success under the ongoing special campaign against drug trafficking. 

As per the guidelines of Manpreet Singh PPS, SP(Inv.) Khanna, Rajanparminder Singh PPS, DSP/Khanna Manmohan Sarna PPS, DSP(Inv.) Khanna, Insp. Hemant Kumar SHO PS Sadar Khanna was working on secret information, during which there has been a recovery of 50 bags of poppy husk ( 07 Quintal 55 Kgs) from a truck bearing no. PB-13-AW-1573 and police party nabbed 4 persons namely Navjot Singh @ Nana r/o Vill. Lopon, Tehsil Samrala, Sukhwinder Singh @ Jung r/o Adarsh Nagar, Samrala, Amarjit Singh r/o Vill. Lopon, Tehsil Samrala and Harmanpreet Singh @ Gaggi r/o Vill. Ber Khurd. A case (FIR No. 212, Dt. 20.12.2020) U/S 15/25/61/85 NDPS Act PS sadar khanna has been registered and all the accused have been arrested. 

During investigation, it has come to fore that Sukhwinder Singh @ Jung and Amarjit Singh are habitual smugglers, A case FIR (no.155 dt 07.11.2004 U/s 15/61/85 NDPS Act PS Samrala) had been registered against them in which Sukhwinder Singh is found to be a parole-jumper. A case (FIR no. 36 dt 19.06.2020 U/s 61/1/14 Excise Act PS Maloud) had been registered against accused Harmanpreet Singh @ Gaggi at Police Station Maloud, Payal in which 50 boxes of illegal liquor were recovered from him.

It has come to notice that the accused has been purchasing poppy husk from Rajasthan at lower rates and used to sell it at a profit in the areas of Khanna, Ludhiana and Nawanshahr. 

The investigation is going on and culprits are still being questioned, there is a possibility of major disclosures.

RECOVERY: 
 1) Total 07 Quintal 55 Kgs Poppy Husk. (32 Bags of Poppy Flowers 03 Quintal 
     20 Kgs and 18 Bags of Poppy Husk 04 Quintals 35 Kgs).
2)  Truck bearing no. PB-13-AW-1573.
