Khanna gets two ultra-modern fire tenders
In a move aimed at strengthening fire safety measures ahead of the Diwali festival, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Friday handed over two ultra-modern, technologically advanced fire tenders worth Rs 65 lakh to the Municipal Council Khanna. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann for Diwali gift for Khanna.

Khanna, (Ludhiana), October 17, 2025: In a move aimed at strengthening fire safety measures ahead of the Diwali festival, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Friday handed over two ultra-modern, technologically advanced fire tenders worth Rs 65 lakh to the Municipal Council Khanna. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann for Diwali gift for Khanna.
The Minister disclosed that the one fir tenders is equipped with facilities to extinguish fires using foam spray and water spray. This tender can also be used in narrow lanes easily. Second fire tender has a 1000-litre water tank for dodging fire. Additionally, it is fitted with sensors to operate effectively in smoke-filled areas inside buildings during fires. It also includes a generator to restore lighting in case of power failure. Moreover, it has pumps capable of reaching water to high levels. Thus, these two vehicles will prove immensely beneficial for rescue operations in Khanna during emergencies. He added that these fire brigade vehicles will remain operational 24 hours a day.
Sond remarked that during the festival season, the risk of fires from fireworks and firecrackers increases significantly. Therefore, having nearby fire brigade facilities is extremely crucial. To ensure the safety of lives and property of residents in the area, these new technology-equipped fire tenders have been provided to Municipal Council Khanna. He emphasized that the safety of citizens is our top priority, and the Punjab government is making robust arrangements for basic facilities in emergency situations.
The Minister also stated that Khanna had long been lacking basic facilities, and these deficiencies are being addressed one by one.
On this occasion, Municipal Council Khanna's Executive Officer Charanjit Singh and many coucillors were also present.
