Kataruchak inspects grain markets, says farmers’ procurement arrangements in place

Ferozepur, October 7, 2026: Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today visited grain markets in Ferozepur to review arrangements for the procurement of the ongoing crop and facilities being provided to farmers.
Kataruchak said Punjab had witnessed a bumper crop this season and the procurement process was progressing smoothly. He said adequate arrangements had been made in the mandis to ensure that farmers did not face inconvenience during the procurement process.
During his visit, the minister was also questioned about the recent CBI action and allegations of misuse of central investigative agencies. Hitting out at the BJP-led Centre, Kataruchak said the Constitution did not permit the CBI and ED to be used to suppress the voice of Opposition parties.
He said the AAP leadership, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party convener Arvind Kejriwal, was not afraid of such raids. He alleged that with the Assembly elections approaching, the BJP was attempting to intimidate the AAP.
Kataruchak further alleged that similar actions had been taken in Delhi, West Bengal and Maharashtra and claimed that the BJP was now attempting to follow the same pattern in Punjab.
