Ferozepur, August 15, 2019: Celebrating Independence Day in a unique way deputy commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind invited Kashmiri students to his residence as guests.

To mark the 73rd anniversary of Independence Day, Gaind organized Ek Sham Shaheedo Ke Naam event at his residence on Wednesday evening, in which singing performances were made on the patriotic theme. A few Kashmiri students also participated in the event by giving the singing performance of patriotic songs, which won the hearts of spectators. Revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kanger was the special guest of this event and lauded the efforts made by the deputy commissioner to connect with the Kashmiri folk on this auspicious day.

Earlier, Gaind welcomed the Kashmiri guests by presenting them a bouquet. He exhorted the students to continue their study in Ferozepur without any worry besides informing them about the steps taken by district administration and police to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiri students studying in Ferozepur. The deputy commissioner ensured students that the administration will leave no stone unturned to provide them foolproof security round the clock.

Senior Superintendent of Police Vivek S. Soni also interacted with the Kashmiri students and apprised them about the priority of police department to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students.

Reacting over the warm welcome by the deputy commissioner, the students said that it was like a homely environment to take part in this event. All the students praised the efforts made by Gaind to make them feel home, said the students. Some of them said that participating in the event as the guest was a matter of sheer happiness for them and they had never expected it. Prominent among the others present on the occasion were District and Session Judge Parminder Pal Singh and his team, Divisional Commissioner Ferozepur Sumer Gurjar, Chief of guardian of governance S.S. Chauchan, MLA Satkar Kaur, Laddi Gehri, DIG BSF, IG Ferozepur Police, ADC Ravinder Singh, ADC Ravinderpal Singh, Assistant Commissioner Ranjit Sngh, Secretary Red Cross Society Ashoke Bahal and all department heads of Ferozepur district.
