Jalandhar, February 1, 2017: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organizes students interaction on ‘Role of Women in Nation Building’ with MP, Rajya Sabha, Dr.Subhash Chandra, Chairman Zee & Essel Group. The Chief Guest of the day Dr.Subhash Chandra was accorded floral felicitations by the college Principal Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi on this occasion. Welcoming Dr.Subhash Chandra, the Principal familiarized the Guest with the glorious, path-breaking and iconic role played by Kanya Maha Vidyalaya in the onerous task of nation-building. She re-iterated that women empowered through higher education can only contribute their share in a country’s progress. The interactive session started with a question focusing on the delay in women reservation bill. Students from various stream enthused with a spirit of curiosity and inquisitiveness touched various issues related to women’s security, dignity, their commodification by media, negative characterization, disparity between men & women in various sectors etc. The gap between the laws in legislature and their implementation, gender discrimination and gender stereotypes are some of the burning issues that dominated the session.
Dr. Subhash Chandra, responding to the pertinent issues raised by KMV students, eulogized the role played by the Heritage Institution in the nation’s history. The college pass-outs occupying top positions in the country as well as abroad stand a testimony to that. According to Dr. Chandra, the social psyche has been very protective for girls that kills the competitive spirit in females and checks the ration of female professionals. The ultimate solution to all problems related to women lies in their ability to assert themselves. Reinventing new meanings from mythology, Kaushalya embodies skills that could give birth to lord Rama who stands for light within and Sita is Human brain. Women enlightenment can only lead to their empowerment by acquiring skills can make not only this nation but the entire world a better place to live in. The organizing committee of the show thanked all the present dignitaries and eminent guests for their presence and making this event a life-long memory to cherish and a moment that will go deep down in the annals of history.
